Getting Around In The Woods
Hi Everyone;
When you go hunting this fall and you are not as familiar with the woods as you should be and you can’t take a friend who is familiar with the woods make sure you take a compass or a GPS so that you can find your way out of the woods. When you are going into the woods be sure to look at some landmarks also and they will help you to find your way out as well. Being careful and deliberate along with a compass or GPS
is a big help. When you are out in the woods to have fun and maybe bag that big buck the last thing you want to worry about is how to get back to your truck. Remember to be safe.

Duck Hunting In A Boat
Hi Everyone;
I would like to cover every aspect of this topic. In order to keep things short I have only included the major topics detailed as good as possible.
Duck hunting can be complete on dry land and you can use duck hunting boats as well. These boats are great for hunting for ducks in a diversity of environments that other boats will have difficulties in. You can prefer the type of boat that will best suit the terrain you are preparation on doing your hunting in. For duck hunters this means have a knowledge of the habitat their prey lives and feeds in.
While the majority of duck hunters prefer to hunt ducks from behind a duck blind, there are some who prefer to look for their game birds in other places. For these people sometimes the terrain they need to travel over is that of swamps and marshes. Since these places are full of water and dozens of leafy hiding places, they are ideal for ducks.
Before you can flush your game birds out into the open you need to get to them. This is where duck hunting boats
with flat bottoms come in handy. The companies who manufacture these types of flat bottom duck hunting boats have investigated the various necessarily of duck hunters. The boats are configured to float through the waterways with minimal difficulties to the duck hunter.To make sure that the duck hunting watch has ample room to store their gear and hunting rifles these duck William Holman Hunt boats are provided with stock space. Chooseing A Sleeping Bag
Hi Everyone;
Sleeping bags are made nowadays with the different kinds of people in mind. So just like no two people can have the same kind of sleeping habits and likes, the sleeping bags are also being made differently. The sleeping bags are made tube very comfortable, warm and cozy and to meet the needs of different people, and at the same time they are priced very reasonably too. You will find sleeping bags to suit the various climatic conditions too.
1. Select the sleeping bag according to the location
When you go out to buy yourself a sleeping bag
the first thing that you should keep in mind is the weather condition of the place where you plan to go camping. This is indeed the most important factor, because if you are going to a very cold place you will obviously need a heavier warmer sleeping bag, and if the temperature is moderate a light weight sleeping bag will do. On the other hand if the weather is wet then you must ensure that you have a water proof sleeping bag. Some materials that are used in sleeping bags, like natural down, loose the properties for insulation and will not keep you warm enough.
2. Keep the material of the sleeping bag in mind While checking out the material that a sleeping bag is made of you need to think of the pros and cons of the natural as well as synthetic materials. The natural ones no doubt will be more comfortable and keep you warmer but will be very heavy to carry around. Whereas the synthetic ones will work well even if they are damp. Though the nylon shells are more durable the protection that they provide is not as much as micro fiber against the cold. However, micro fiber is also more expensive. Though the cotton sleeping bags allow more ventilation and breath better, they are very heavy. So it is better to do some research and think about the kind of sleeping bag that would be most suitable for you.
3. The sleeping bag’s shape The shape of the sleeping bag is something that has a lot of different characteristics too. A rectangular sleeping bag gives a camper more space but leaves a lot of room in between to be warmed up, but can be zipped up together and used as a bed if required for more sleeping space. On the other hand a mummy sleeping bag keeps the camper warm and snug and is used by campers in colder environments. However, someone who like to move around a lot in their sleep may not find this kind of a bag very comfortable and may find it restricted. Another kind of sleeping bag is the one that is tapered to the legs and though not as constricted as a mummy bag still restricts movement. Any sleeping bag will have a longer span of life if a sleeping bag liner is inserted into the bag as this can be taken out and washed easily.

.
Many people, me included, like my knife to have a gut hook. This makes gutting your kill much easier. there are those that do not like a gut hook on there knives. It really comes down to what you are comfortable with, but I think that a gut hook makes cleaning out your deer or elk much easier. Now if you are going in to the back woods for any reason, you always should have pocket knives or hunting knives with you. there are many examples of knives saving people’s lives from wild life or from a accident. A ounce of prevention is worth a pound of cure. Also when hiking or camping, knives are also a great tool for cooking or cutting line to put up a shelter.
You can also get pocket knives that have many different tools built in to them. If getting pocket knives with just one blade I would suggest getting one that has a serrated combo edge. The serrated combo edge is good for cutting thought harder material such as wood or bone. This combo edge will give your knives more versatility. No matter where you go in the mountains or water, hunting, fishing, or scuba diving. There are knives for every event.

Some Hunting Tips For Everyone
Hi Everyone;
It’s a dark, cold, fall morning. The grass crunches under your feet as you walk out to your truck. You look into the sky and notice that there is enough moonlight to see shadows of different shapes casting their dark paths across the ground. You are excited because it is the opening day of deer season. You climb into your truck and start heading to your spot. When you arrive you slowly step out of your vehicle and retrieve your gun or bow and start the trek to your stand. You can hear the scurrying of a squirrel; the rustle of dead leaves rattling together in tree limbs. This is the perfect morning.
Just before you reach your blind the darkness is broken by an explosive snort. The sound startles you, and you recognize it immediately as a deer sounding the alarm. It’s all over.
What happened to this hunter has happened to countless others. You are beginning your hunt on a day that seems perfect, but what happened? As a hunter there are several things that have to be taken into consideration before heading out into the woods. Consider these deer hunting tips.
Scent: Did you properly take care not to let odors penetrate your hunting cloths or be on you? Are you wearing rubber boots?
Wind: Did you have a back up area in case the wind was blowing too strong into an unfavorable direction?
Scouting: Did you scout your area in the pre season well enough to know the routes and funnels that the deer were taking to feeding and bedding areas? Did you take into account the route to your stand to make sure it did not cross the deer’s traveled route?
There are so many factors that have to be considered in the sport of deer hunting. Unlike a sport where you are competing with a human, you are competing with an animal that dominates you in all the physical senses. Deer also have the home field advantage. Imagine if you came home and someone had moved your sofa. You would notice right away. The woods are a deer’s living room. That is why it’s so important to consider your self a guest while in the woods and do your best not to disturb too many things, so be carful useing your flashlight as well.
When you are scouting a new area you must make sure that you do it early enough in the year that the deer become accustomed to the changes you do cause such as shooting lanes and stand placement. Remember to check with your state’s law regarding the earliest time you can place your stand.
Deer hunting is a wonderful sport that can be done alone or shared with others. Regardless if you go it alone or have a partner, use these deer hunting tips and try to be prepared so your hunt has a better chance of being successful and not damped by something you were not ready for.

Hiking In The Backwoods
Hi Everyone;
It’s fall and there is still some color in the woods and if you are going hiking there still are some great views to be seen. Be sure to take your hiking poles for stability because this time of year it rains a lot and it will get slippery with the newly fallen leaves and soft ground. Being safe is the best way to insure a great time with friends hiking in the back
country. If might be a good idea to take a first aid kit for the scrapes and scratches. Here in Michigan it will soon be snowing and blowing so get to the trails soon or it will be cross country skiing time. Have a great day.

Keeping Track Of Your Heart Rate
Hi Everyone;
When you are out walking or exercising and you want to know just how far you have went and what your heart rate is plus how much time you have spent then a good watch that tells all of these is a good thing to have. We all could use more exercise some time just to keep us ready for hunting, or like us here in Michigan ready to go snow skiing. My wife and I like to ride our bikes in the summer and keeping in shape through winter sometimes is hard to do. The older we get the more useful a tool like the watch that monitors our heart rate becomes. If you are looking for a place to go hiking, biking or skiing check out this web site, www.mi.gov/dnr and you can find a lot of place for all kinds of recreation. Please be safe in what ever you do.

Going Away For The Week Or Week-End
Hi Everyone;
So you are going to get away from the hectic pace of everday work and go camping or visiting friends and you are wondering what you can take that will make your trip more interesting. If you are going camping
and have children they don’t care what you bring as long as it’s food and games in what ever order you decide, but you will need to bring more stuff. Like a good tent, sleeping bags, extra clothes, maybe a cot to sleep on and coolers for the food you want to keep cool. What else you bring is up to you and your own preferences but a first aid kit would also be a good thing to add to the list. Maybe a pair of binoculars to see some of the beautiful sites in the country like the turkey, deer, moose, elk, or just beautiful scenery. Remember to be safe in your travels.

Going Tenting For Deer Season
Hi Everyone;
Bow season is here and there are a lot of hunters getting a buck. My son shot a 6 point buck last week and there were several others in our local newspaper reporting nice bucks taken. The weather has been good for hunting and camping so now is the time to go fall camping and enjoy the time out in nature. Having a good tent for this time of year is important, you will want to get one that is suited for the fall weather, look at the description of the tent and it will tell you if it is a 3 season tent or 4 seasons. If you think you will go camping in the winter look for a 4 season tent otherwise a 3 season tent
should do the job. Just remember to be safe in what ever you do.
