Spotting Scopes for Birdwatching

I’m quite the avian enthusiast, and when it comes to birdwatching, I use a multitude of tools.  It’s common for every birdwatcher to have binoculars, but I also use a spotting scope.  While for watching birds in your immediate vicinity a spotting scope is often too powerful, it’s great for looking at nests or even examining birds of prey soaring overhead.  I’ve used mine to examine birds catching fish in a river, and even spot rare birds in the deep woodlands; birds that often flee at the first sign of a human.

I’d recommend a spotting scope for novice and expert birdwatchers; it really helps in locating birds, and even locating locations where there are excellent opportunities for birdwatching.  Just remember to bring a book to identify all the unique species you discover!
