The Newest Innovation in Flashlights

Whether for camping, walking around at night, or those just in case occurrences like power outages, a reliable flashlight is a powerful asset.  LED flashlights are without a doubt the most reliable because of their brightness, durability, and superior lifetime.  LED flashlights can be twice or even three times as bright as a standard flashlight, and in addition to brightness, are able to provide enough light to brighten a larger area.  LED flashlights are also much more durable than standard flashlights; when dropped, an LED flashlight won’t break, and the bulb is much more resistant to blunt trauma.  LEDs also have a superior lifetime compared to standard flashlights; even the batteries will last longer because LEDs consume less energy.

There’s no reason to own a standard flashlight anymore because LED flashlights have become so widespread and affordable.  Chances are the flashlight will become lost or abandoned for use before the bulb ever burns out!

Choosing the Best Tent

When it comes to camping, hiking, and backpacking, it’s important to have the right tent to provide ideal accommodations based on the location, season, and weather conditions.  Tents come in various different sizes and shapes, and some provide unique benefits.  For example, dome tents are most common amongst four season tents because their simplistic design allows them to support the weight of snow.  Not all four season tents are dome tents, but a wide range fall into the dome tent category.  Backpacking tents tend to have more unique shapes, and are also designed to be lightweight.  For backpackers, it’s essential to have a tent that can store all their gear, thus tents with vestibules and gear lofts tend to work the best.  When traveling in an area where rain is possible, it’s a good idea to have a tent with a rain fly.  You might find yourself spending a lot of time inside the tent if it’s raining, so make sure it’s comfortable!

The ideal tent will also have a solid warranty, because those tents that have poor craftsmanship are liable to rip or break.  Don’t be afraid to spend a lot on a tent; having adequate shelter outdoors is essential.

Staying Dry on the Trail

When it comes to hiking, it’s likely you’ll be in a location that will have a chance of adverse weather conditions.  It’s important to stay dry when hiking because being wet will reduce your energy, make you feel tired, and can lead to more serious conditions like hypothermia and pneumonia.  You should select hiking gear that will keep you dry but also won’t weigh you down.  It’s important to have quality hiking boots; if there’s one piece of hiking gear that you shouldn’t skimp on cost, it would be hiking boots.  You should also carry a lightweight poncho, and a rain hat.  You might even consider a lightweight hiking umbrella.

When you’re outdoors staying dry will help you to have a more enjoyable time and keep you safe as well.  Even if there’s no rain predicted, it’s always best to be prepared because you never know what conditions will be like in the mountains!

Unneeded Camping Supplies

When it comes to camping, there are a lot of accessories marketed as useful but are ultimately unneeded.  For example, you’ll tend to find cast iron fire pits amongst camping accessories, but the fact is most recreational campsites have fire pits installed, and provided you contain the fire properly, it’s safe to have a fire even if there isn’t an embedded fire pit.  It’s also common for manufacturers of camping accessories to market multi-tools in excess.  While a good multi-tool is nice to have, how likely is it that you’ll use that corkscrew attachment outdoors?  Choose a multi-tool with a blade, a screwdriver (to repair camping equipment) and perhaps a can and bottle opener; that’s really all you need.  Cooking accessories for camping are another over-marketed product, you need a skillet, if your meals require more than that you’re probably not really camping!

You should always be prepared outdoors, but remember that you shouldn’t take an excess of equipment as well.  Camping should be fun, and it’s no fun if you have to spend hours unpacking and setting up, and the same when you leave.

Preparing for a Camping Trip

When it comes to preparing for camping, it’s important to strike a balance between bringing too little and too much.  Who wants to unload dozens of bags, boxes, and luggage?  Camping, in addition to celebrating the majesty of the outdoors, is often about relaxation.  If you’re stressing about where the coffee creamer went, and who unpacked the camping stove, and how many bottles of sunscreen you need, you’ll never have any fun in the outdoors.  Camping supplies should be functional, but be sure to avoid bringing an excess.  Instead of a lot of pots and pans, just bring one deep skillet or a griddle, avoid lots of extra toiletries and hygiene products you don’t need, and create your own entertainment.

Camping is about good company, nature’s beauty, and rediscovering man’s heritage in the outdoors.  Don’t forget it’s about fun too!

Essential Camping Equipment

When it comes to camping, there’s no more fun or enjoyable activity to be shared with family and friends.  However, to have an enjoyable camping trip, you’ll want to be prepared with all the necessary gear and equipment.  You won’t have a stovetop or an oven, so be sure to bring cooking equipment, at the minimum a camping stove is necessary for cooking hot meals.  Having some kind of shelter is a no brainer, so be sure to bring a tent, but also be sure you have a rain fly (unless you’re camping in the desert!).  It’s also important to bring emergency supplies in case of a real emergency; equipment like a first aid kit, flashlight, and even a GPS device are great to have in the outdoors.

In addition to all of the equipment essential to survival, it’s also important to remember that camping is about fun!  For an enjoyable time consider sporting equipment including croquet sets, footballs, fishing poles, and binoculars (for bird and wildlife watching).  Being prepared and also planning some fun activities will ensure that your camping trip is one to remember.

Propane Camping Stove

Camping need not be too primitive if you can bring along several items to provide you with some creature comforts. A propane camping stove, for instance, will eliminate the need to start a fire every time you need to cook something. The compact design makes it very convenient to carry.

Propane camping stoves make cooking under the stars a lot of fun. You need not worry anymore about cleaning a blackened pot the next day. You are also given more time to focus on other camping activities if you don’t have to constantly tend to the fire. Make cooking outdoors a quick and easy task. Look for heavy-duty camping stoves that will serve you well for years.

Outdoor enthusiasts need to know what things to bring when going on an adventure. They should be knowledgeable enough to differentiate between items needed for a day hike or a weekend camping trip, for example. When it comes to camping gear, here are several must-haves that you need to bring to be able to survive life in the wilds for a few days:

~Adequately sized backpack and sleeping bag

~Tent, jacket, extra pair of socks, hiking boots

~Flashlight, extra batteries, matches

~Small first aid kit

~Pocket knife, compass

~Food and cookware

~Water, bottle, and water-treatment supplies

Spending time in the great outdoors can be a fun and rewarding experience, but it can quickly turn into an unpleasant outing if you are not equipped with the right camping supplies.  But don’t fear with a little bit of planning and smart purchases you and your loved ones can enjoy a stress free and comfortable vacation in the wilderness.

The first item on every prepared campers list is a high quality tent.  Remember, it should be made of high quality, tear resistant fabric, and should be as light as possible.  Also, invest in a durable, warm, and light sleeping bag.  When the weather gets chilly, you’ll be glad you purchased a high quality bag.
